: Yes, I feel so much more comfortable with life after we did the permenant g-tube for my oldest. The surgery was not fun- but the end result is awesome- I highly recommend it. But, I'm not sure what your daughter's prognosis is, so I don't know if you could convince your doctors that this is necessary.

: Has your daughter been ng fed since birth? Does she eat anything by mouth? Are there any other health concerns?

: I never ng tube fed my son. He was born with urinary/kidney problems. He was 19 lbs at 2 yrs old when we started intensive feeding therapy. At 2 1/2 he still wasn't gaining, so we did the g-tube. Now at 4 1/2 he is 35 1/4 pounds!!!!

: I'll chat more but I need to help my son build lincoln logs. He is getting frustrated :0)

WEll the reason one of my daughters is on tube feeding is because she always throws up her food. She gets meds for reflux, but they think the reason why she throws up is because when she was born she developed NEC - necrotizing encolitis -probably spelled wrong, but it is where sections of the intestines is dead and eventually it pops, it probably sounds gross but then the problem of stools leaking through the body arises. Any how if too much of the intestine pops they cant doing any thing for the child and in most cases a large portion does pop , but if that were to happen thay cant repair the whole intestine string it would take for ever and ever. And when they sew back intestines its like sewing butter. But any how Jayda got lucky and only a small portion was dead. And they gave her an ostomy so her intestine would have time to recover. Well now her ostomy has a hernia in it which is blocking the way she go's to the rest room and it backs up in to her belly causing her to puke. ITs very painfull for her. She screams and gos nutts every time she gos but thats why she is on the pump so she can get fed at a very very very slow pace and that way her stomach should have enough time to absorb the food and then she wouldnt throw up her calories. Which is why she had trouble gaining weight. But other then that she is perfectly healthy. Sorry so long.
