Hi Kelly! We never bought a "regular" high chair for my son because we didn't want another piece of furniture hanging around!! So I bought one of the portable ones that you strap to a chair. He has used this since he started eating while sitting up! He is now 15 months old. It starts out in a kind of reclining position and you can keep adjusting it. He now sits in it straight up without the tray...just pulled up to the table. We haven't had any problems with it and it doesn't take up any more room than a chair. Just make sure you put it on a sturdy chair and I don't think you will have any problems either!! It is called a Reclining 3-Stage Feeding Seat and is put out by The First Years. It straps to the seat of the chair it is in as well as the back. There is also a 3-point restraint to hold baby in the chair!

Good luck!

Beth S.
