: My daughter is 10 mos actual, 8 adjusted, and is getting the hang of the sippy cup. We introduced it to her at 8 months and she had no interest. At 9 she started to drink if we held it. Now she holds it herself, but still doesn't lift it too far up. We have also filled it to the top with either formula, juice/water, or water. She took to the formula first. Everything had to be warmed at first also, formula, juice, and water. We do not use the spill proof cups, she can't suck hard enough to get anything out. We have tried a straw and she can get the liquid up a little bit but can;t suck long, hard enough to drink with it. You don't always have to do exactly what the doctor says. I just use it as guidelines. It all really depends on your son. Good luck. I'm sure when he's ready he will drink from one.
