: My daugher is 5 weeks old and will feed 2ozs every two hours during the day. At night she can go 5 to 7 hours without a bottle and not getting up. Is it too early to try to push her to go longer between bottles. At one point she was going every three to four hours and was drinking more at those feedings.

Hello,

In my opinion, she is eating every 2 hours because 2 ounces are not filling her up so she is getting hungry quicker. At 5 weeks, she should be taking in about 4 ounces every feeding and the onces will go up as she gets older. I would try to feed her every 3 hours as long as she doesn't look very hungry. Maybe try and occupy her until around 3 hours. She will then take in more ounces. Her tummy is getting used to eating very frequently and in small amounts. Later she may eat smaller amounts every hour or 1-1/2 hours. For bottle-fed babies, it takes them longer to digest formula. Breast-fed babies do eat every hour or 1-1/2 hours because they digest the milk so quickly.

Hope this helps.
