: Hello.

: Newbie here. New father too. What a great experience it is too! Our son is 9.5 months old. We have a gas fireplace that we use occasionally, never when he is up though(yet). He is fascinated by the sound it makes when he plays with the brass vents. Anyhow, he insists on playing with it. We tell him no, we will even slap his little hand and tell him no, but he thinks it's just a game. We pull him away, and give him his toys, but he makes his way back there almost immediately. We don't know what to do. It gets so hot when it is turned on, that we refuse to use it at all when he is up because we don't want him to get burned. I don't want to put up a screen, because I think we will just have the same problem. For the moment, we are okay with not using it, but if someone has some suggestions how to deal with this, I am certainly all ears.

: Thank you.

He is just a youngin, its good you are telling him no. At this age they are just going to keep pushing you're bottons to see how far daddy can go. Do you have a gate that you could but around the fire please that would work it would keep hom out of reach. You have a little gas fire plase and my too loved it they touched it and thats it they dont bother it no more im not syaing let him touch it. I would try the gate.
