I know you must be very frustrated. We were told that colic usually ends at 12 weeks so it sounds like it might be something else. However, I wanted to share what I recently read on the "letting them cry" method:
One Q & A section on baby behavior in my newest Parents Magazine said that we can’t over cuddle a 2-month old. Dr. Gordon, who was also the author of Listening to Your Baby, wrote the section. He says, “When you don’t pick him up, he’ll just learn that Mommy and Daddy aren’t as reliable as he thought.” It went on to say that the more mommy & daddy comfort their baby in these earliest months, the more easily they will separate later. He actually says, “At this age, you are laying the basics of a lifelong relationship, and by heeding his cries, you’re setting up the trust that will allow him to separate more easily later on... You can set certain limits for him when he’s 9 months old or a year, but not now.”
From everything I've read I gather that until baby is around 9 months old, they need comforting when they cry. I've also been using the sling both at home and in public. Brayla can nurse while she's in it even when we're in public and people can't tell.
Hope this helps...
