If you're contemplating or interested, here is the information from RXLIST.COM - the internet drug index on Zofran. It is prescribed quite frequently for severe nausea that is not helped by anything else. It is given to people on chemo. I actually had hyperemesis and it helped me tremendously:

Pregnancy

Teratogenic Effects: Pregnancy Category B. Reproduction studies have been performed in pregnant rats and rabbits at I.V. doses up to 4 mg/kg per day and have revealed no evidence of impaired fertility or harm to the fetus due to ondansetron. There are, however, no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Because animal reproduction studies are not always predictive of human response, this drug should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed.

Good Luck, let us know what you've decided to do. Did you try the Jolly Ranchers?

: : Yeah, we're doing that. My mother-in-law takes care of Hannah while Mrs. Steve is at her part-time job during the day, and MIL has been coming over earlier and staying later. She's been a gigantic help. I think we're just getting frustrated at the whole thing and questioning whether this pregnancy was a good idea.

:
: Steve,

: I am so glad your MIL is becoming closer to Hannah. That is great that she is helping out!

: I wish there was something I could do for Mrs. Steve. I tried talking to a good friend of mine who is a high-risk OB/GYN physician and he said what he usually recommends is vitamin B6, ginger, or an herb called Milk Thistle by Nature's Way which they sell at a health food store. He says that vitamin B6 is supposed to be the most effective of all. I did tell him nothing seems to be working for her and he said for her to have several small meals a day that she will tolerate and LOTS of rest. Has she had excessive vomiting? If things get worse, she may need IV fluids. I also mentioned Phenergan or Reglan to him and as I said, he too ded not feel it should be taken during the first trimester because it can cause birth defects as it is a class C drug and further studies are still needed to prove that the drug will not.

: I hope she is feeling a bit better today. I hope you and your family had a Happy Thanksgiving.

: Take Care. Keep me posted.
