: My 13 month old son, 2 weeks ago, has started head butting, ONLY ME. I think that he seems to think this is funny, (sometimes he smiles, sometimes he just looks me dead in the eyes) but he has a very hard head, and it actually hurts ME pretty bad, especially when he gets me on the temple. He's headbutting so hard that it can give me a headache for a few minutes if he gets me in the right spot. My daughter never did this.

: I'm sure it's not a self soothing mechanisim because he does it when he's fully awake and it is very purposeful. I imagine it could be attention getting, but he's already got my attention as he does it when I'm holding him...but once again he does it to ONLY ME.

: Any thoughts...experience....knowledge of others who have had similar experiences? Oh, and should I be at all concerned that he is hurting HIS head? Thanks in advance.

My oldest daughter who is now 8,at around the same age as your son now would right in front of me(only me) start smashing her head on the floor one time she thru herself backwards, and i had to litterally dive to catch her.fortunatly she grew out of that stage. I really tried my best to just ignore it.but what can I say, I'm now hoping for advice on my clingy 10mth old.LOL!!!
